STAR Transportation has been serving the needs of the community's older adults and individuals with disabilities since 1982. It is supported by a millage of the townships of Bruce and Washington, a Specialized Service Grant from the State of Michigan, community and municipal credits from SMART, and is a community based service provider of SMART. STAR provides rides for eligible residents to local banks, grocery stores, drug stores, hair appointments, nutritional and recreational activities, for medical care and other needs. Out-of-area transportation is also available for personal medical appointments at or near Henry Ford Macomb, Crittenton, and Troy Beaumont. Non-local shopping trips are also scheduled, in advance, each month.
